ChainFree Asheville is a non-profit organization which receives no government funding. We are supported through people like you who love dogs. In this current economy, we need your support more than ever to help people unchain their dogs. Council has also mandated that a fund be set up by the community to act as a safety net for those needing a fence before we can get a law.
You would agree, we hope, that in an ideal world, all dogs would sleep inside a house every night with a big fenced-in back yard and lots of warmth, love, attention and care. In reality, many dogs live at the end of a chain 24/7 with none of that. We visit with these people every day. We are providing dog houses and offering free fencing. We are in the field, investigating each dog brought to our attention. We work with Animal Control to insure the safety of both dogs and people. We assist with spay/neuter, food, and information to make dogs' lives better, healthier and more humane.
ChainFree Asheville and our subsidiary, Habitats for Hounds, are all-volunteer organizations. Every dollar you give goes into direct services.
